In 2015 we launched a pilot program called Let Us, inviting individual backyard gardeners to donate excess vegetables in an effort to reduce food waste and increase our capacity to place food on the table at our community cafes. An independent gardener as well as four local church congregations participated. Together, we were able to prepare and preserve a variety of vegetables for donations to other community partners and stored for future use in our cafes.
We'll be continuing Let Us in 2016 and will be providing collection sites around the city so you don't have to go far to donate your surplus harvest. Please contact us about your place of worship, business or civic location serving as a Let Us collection site. And, if you'd like to be a regular contributor of vegetables or fruit, please visit our volunteer page to let us know your intentions.
